Problem:

I open a picture, Select the lasso, I start masking an area, but part of the area is off screen. When I try to mask this part off screen, it SLAMS all the way to the edge of the photo. When I try to go back to the area that I was masking…thus having to go off screen on the other side of the picture, it SLAMS over to the other edge.

How can I fix this?????? How can I slow this down???

Is that a case of "snapping to document bounds", maybe? That can be checked in the View menu under Snap.

As you get near the edge press the space bar to get the pan tool and drag the picture into the window. Release to return to the lasso.

Turn off the "Snap to Edge" under the View menu. Rob

You’d be better off using the Pen rather than the lasso for anything other than quick, crude selections.
