Can’t run Droplet on Win XP Media Edition

I’ve been stuck with something for a few days now and can’t figure it out and suspect there might be a problem with PS CS2 and Windows XP Media Edition…

I have a very simple one-line script (only an Alert for testing) that works just fine if I execute the script directly. It also works just fine if I create an action that calls the script. It (the action) does NOT work if I send images to it from Bridge (Tools|Photoshop|Batch) – that causes an error that scripts are not available (this has already been reported and confirmed by others).

Anyway, a possible solution is to create a Droplet of that action and drop images onto that. But…

On my home machine, running Win XP Pro, I CAN get the droplet working. (The droplet runs an action which executes the script.) On my notebook computer, running Win XP Media Center, the droplet does NOT run. PS comes up, but the action is never executed, nor is there any kind of error message. And the image(s) I drop onto the droplet don’t open up in PS either.

Both machines have SP2 installed. And as far as I can see, both are configured the same way.

Is it possible that some kind of setting is different on the machines which is causing this? Although I set up both machines and can’t see or imagine what’s different. And the same apps are running on both. And the anti-virus stuff is IDENTICAL.

I hope that someone reading along who has Win XP Media Center would be able to try this to see if it works.

Thanks!

Eldor:

Hello again. 🙂

The symptoms you report are by no means universal, but starting with CS and now with CS2, I’ve seen about a dozen reports of this problem here and on other forums.

Send me an e-mail if you would (click my name above this post). I’d like to further discuss offline and if we make headway, I’ll add to this thread.

Thx/Danny

Any progress on this? I’ve started another thread <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?12@@.3bba7539/1> in the Bridge areas. There’s clearly a problem here and I hope one of the Adobe guys or some other genius will have a solution.
