That and, if you have "Snap" selected in the View menu, turn it off temporarily.
You can also choose/unchoose the items to snap to.
Just in case any Maccers are reading this and wonder about the same behavior:
If "Snap" is turned on, you can disable it temporarily by pressing and holding the Control (not the Windows CTRL) key.
If it’s off, and you want to enable Snap, again, just hold the Control key.
But now I’m curious…is there no way under Windows to perform this same toggling behavior?
" Shift+Ctrl+;"
Well, I knew about that shortcut for the wholesale switch between Snap & No Snap, and I now see that this works while the Crop Selection is active (never tried that shortcut before during Mid-Crop), but it isn’t nearly as elegant a solution as being able to temporarily toggle Snap/Don’t Snap by holding a single key.
No it ain’t.
But I’m not going to switch to Mac on account of it 😉
Sooo…you’re saying that this temporary toggle has no analogue under Windows?
Just seems like an oversight that never got fixed to me.
I tried every key on the bunch, just out of curiosity, and came back with a big fat nothing 🙁
Dang shame, that.
I find myself using it quite regularly. I’d definitely miss it if I had to do a Command + Shift + ; to get the same thing to happen. I know how I am, too…I’d forget that I turned all snapping off and then wonder why it wasn’t workinng!
🙂
