Attempted to use Vanishing Point Filter but can’t Access

I opened a psd file of a building for which I sought to employ the vanishing point filter. In fact, I tried to follow along on the Adobe tutorial, but couldn’t get past step one. I created a new empty layer atop my photo, but when I went to Filter>Vanishing Point, the menu selection for vanishing point was greyed out. End of tutorial. Can anyone assist in telling me why I couldn’t select the vanishing point filter? Thanks.

Make sure your image is in a color mode and not grayscale or indexed.

"I created a new empty layer atop my photo" Well there was nothing to work with, you have to work on the ‘photo’ layer. Save a copy or duplicate the ‘photo layer’ to work on.

ID, it is recommended to work in VP on an empty layer… that way the edits are on their own layer. I think that Tony is right…

Tony had it right, it only works in RGB mode and as Pierre said you can work on a blank layer. Well holy poopoo, wish I done 11!
