Hi. For some reason, as of today, when I open an image in PS it goes through the motions of opening without opening a window with the image in it. I can see a thumbnail of the image in the Layers palette in the background layer with the ‘eye’ icon visible and with the ‘lock’ icon visible. Why won’t a work window open up? Thanks! ~T.~

It’s probably off screen. Did you change monitor configuration lately? You can always reset the preferences (FAQ)

Rob,

Thanks for the quick pick up. As far as I know I closed PS yesterday and opened it today with no configuration changes inbetween. I went into ‘Edit – Preferences’ and flipped through the panels but only saw one reset – ‘Reset all warning dialogues’. I went into ‘Windows – Workspace – Default’ but still I am unable to get a window to open with my image, even though it is visible as a thumbnail in the layers palette. If it is somehow offscreen, how do I recover it?

Thanks!

As Rob indicated, the FAQs has the info for how to reset Prefs.

Hold down Alt Ctrl Shift while starting up Photoshop and when you get the dialog hit Yes.

Without resetting preferences, you could also go to Window-Tile or Cascade and the image should pop into place.

Ed, Rob and Peter,

I am grateful for the attention. ‘Ctrl-Alt-Shift’ got results.

Thanks!
