Is there any simple way to remove the apperance of the printing screen from say a scanned newspaper image. I have seen it done directly on a Canon scanner, but a photoshop method would be useful.

Hello Dennis,

I would have to see how bad it is to give an answer. I have my ideas but… If you would like, I will fumble around with it for you. If you post an image I will certainly be more than happy to shoot out some ideas to you.

Google for:

descreen action photoshop

and take your pick. Several easy methods exist.

This is as good as it gets:

Be sure to read the whole section on de-screening!

In fact the whole site is a goldmine of information.

"In fact the whole site is a goldmine of information."

I’ll second that, J.J.

I’ve been sending people to Scantips.com for years.

Thank you for the suggestions – Scantips seems to provide a comprehensive answer. The problem arose when someone asked me to help with some pictures they needed. Fortunately the problem was solved by the scanner in that case. My query was more general in nature so that I don’t have a scan for Jason to try. Thanks again
