Are there any well featured paint programs that work within Photoshop? What comes with photoshop is pretty limited.

And if not any recommendations on a paint program to export stuff to. thanks.

How are you finding Photoshop limited? I suspect you are just not finding the tools you need easily. There is no "better" paint tool than Photoshop, although almost all the others are "easier" to learn.

"There is no "better" paint tool than Photoshop"

Depends what you mean by "paint tool." Corel Painter would certainly qualify as "better" if one’s definition of "paint tool" is meant to describe something which emulates natural media.

Don,
having used another paint program a number of years back and seeing programs like Dogwaffle out there, i have first hand experience with more versatile programs than what Pshop has to offer. Unfortunately the other program, whose name i can’t remember is defunct but it had great nozzle features that pshop doesn’t. Anyone saying Pshop is the best out there for painting is not too experienced.

My wish is to get something i can use inside of pshop. All the others are freestanding. mh

ROTFLMAO!

Perhaps if you answered Don’s question or addressed Phos’ comment, we could guide you better.

In short: What are you trying to do?

Right Hemisphere’s Deep paint used to be a PS plugin for natural media. My understanding is that it worked in PS CS1 but not CS2, but the company is working on a newer version. That company seems to be slow in development these days and mainly focuses on 3d painting anyway. Personally, I use PS and Corel Painter. They have different strengths. There may be a limited edition of Corel Painter available for less money.

I have seen such brilliant art, created by painting entirely in Photoshop, that the only answer to people like Mr Herman is "Try harder son".

for those "Experience chellenged" individuals that think Pshop has all the tools i can only suggest that you look at other stuff outside Pshop (like Dogwaffle) and you’ll see.

But…here is an example for those uninclined to step outside of pshop. A nozzle on a brush that spews out multiple jpg images, all different, all at different scale and orientation, all at different hue and all aspects of it adjustable. Where would this be useful? Maybe if the images were photos of leaves and one was working on a landscape…or if the images were grasses and one was working on a landscape. If you really want to see what this looks like go to the dogwaffle site.

This is just one item, there are a ton of things that one doesn’t get in pshop whaen it comes to nozzles and brushes….but then if you’ve never stepped outside of pshop you probably don’t care and are happy in your confined little world.

Don’t worry be happy.

That doesn’t sound like painting to me!

And can’t you set a custom brush that will generate random patterns (created from a bitmap). Sounds like the same effect to me, although done in a different manner.

Show me a piece of art that can’t be done in Photoshop. (Heck, I have been amazed at seeing what I thought were photographs, and finding out that they were hand drawn in either Photoshop or Illustrator, or both.)

Mike,

Try Paint Shop Pro. Hasn’t that a "brush" called "Image Tube"?

My example was only one of the MANY things that pshop canNOT do. If this example is still unclear then go here…

<http://www.squirreldome.com/cyberop.htm>

and scroll down to the video tutorials and download the "Custom Brush Dynamics" …it shows this ONE of MANY things that i canNOT get within Pshop.
My post is about getting these WITHIN Pshop. I like working in Pshop. I know i can get these things from other packages but that is NOT the point of the post.

I’m looking for a third party add-on to Pshop that will give me other brush abilities.

thanks.
