Before installing CS2, any graphic would open with PS by double clicking when received in an email in Outlook. After installing CS2, I get this error message: MicroSoft Office Outlook, application not found.

Considering I am in Outlook, I find that fascinating! I am using IE7, Windows XP, Outlook (not Outlook Express) and have plenty of hard drive space and RAM.

NOW the only way to open any graphic coming in an email is to save the graphic, open a grapics program and then open the .jpg. And NO, I cannot choose a program to open with. Yes, I can go through the motions but it simply refuses to recognize PhotoShop or Fireworks.

Any help will be most appreciated.

It sounds as if your file associations need attention.

From Windows Explorer go to Tools > Folder Options > File Types.

Click on "" and set things the way you want them.

Josh: Thanks for the quick answer. BUT that is just what I was saying. It won’t let me pick the association that I want. I WANT PS and it won’t accept that. It just reverts right back to what it was.

Yes, I said accept/save (whatever the button said that means save it).

I can change it to PS Elements but not PS. I guess that is better than nothing but not what I want. It won’t let me use Fireworks or Photoshop only PhotoShop Elements.

Did you go into "Advanced"?

I just noticed that the word disappeared out of the "" in my answer.

If "Advanced" is greyed out, reset to default first.

Do you really want to have Photoshop as your default image viewer?

Don’t you find it very slow?

I have Windows and Fax viewer.

Nothing has to load.

PhotoShop is fine (and no I don’t find is slow) but FireWorks would be better. Either way, neither is available.

Josh: There is no ADVANCED button when I click on .jpg file extension. There is RESTORE but I don’t want to do that.

As to Windows and Fax Viewer, I also have those but don’t want that association – I wish to use PS.

I wish to use PS.

Fair enough it’s your preference, since PS isn’t always open with me I like a quick way to view non-PSD files.

There is RESTORE but I don’t want to do that.

That is exactly what you must do. Don’t worry, it doesn’t bite!

Ah ha! I had to go two more steps after I did Advance. I had to do EDIT and then BROWSE to find PS.

It works now and I thank you all for the help.
