Hi all,

I am looking to find out how to get rid of the background of an object.

In other words I want to display a logo only with no background.

What’s the background like? Is it a solid color or image?

First thing to do is turn Background into a Layer by Alt-double-clicking on it in the Layers palette. Then you need to make a good selection of the object or the background. How you do that depends on the nature of the image. Then you can delete or make a Layer Mask to hide the background.

There are many tutorials about this on the web. Look up cutting out, eliminating background, etc.

It is the Intel Core 2 Duo logo with rounded edges, but when saved it is a square image with he logo in it and a white background.

What I want to do is get rid of the white background so as to have just the logo in a picture.

What format are you saving as?

I recommend PSD to preserve transparency. You can place those in AI or ID

Here is the link to the logos, and you can only save them as BMP or JPEG.

Alt-double-click on Background in the Layers palette to turn it into a Layer. Set Magic Wand tolerance to a low number, like 10, Antialias, Contiguous. Click in the white area off the logo . Delete. Save as psd, tif or whatever, depending on what you are going to use the logo for.
