I do not use PS as a graphics professional, but I do use it a lot on other various things. Should I bite the bullet and jump to CS3? Will the next upgrade not allow me to jump from PS7?

Thanks.

PS7 will be the oldest release that will be eligible for an upgrade to CS3. Since you do not explicitly indicate what you use Photoshop for it’s difficult to know if CS3 will be of benefit.

However, in my opinion the jump from PS7 to CS3 is significant, with many additional features, especially if your primary interest is digital photography (e.g. Bridge, ACR4, Shadow/Highlight adjustment, Smart Sharpen, Smart objects and filters, more 16-bit editing, spot healing brush, Black & White adjustment, auto-align and auto-blend layers, improved Photomerge, and much more).

I use it with my photos and in making artwork. Thanks for your answer. I have a birthday coming up, so….!

Not too soon, I hope. CS3 is not available yet (but coming real soon now).

i’d wait margaret. it’s coming early 2007 i believe. and as wolf said, adobe has stated they’re only going to do updates 3 versions back from now on. you should be ok going from 7 to 3.

i’d recommend anyone with v6 upgrade to cs2 BEFORE the cs3 release though, if they plan to update at all. once cs3 is released, ps6 and earlier users will have to get a new FULL license (not upgrade) to keep in the ps upgrade loop!

CS3 is due the end of May which is the end of Adobe’s fiscal second quarter.

Thanks y’all. The new release will be way past my birthday. So, I’ll just think of another "holiday" for which I’ll be needing a gift. 😉
