I’m trying to apply curves (to lighten a pic) but the function is grayed out. I followed the instructions in my manual and still no results. The apply image function (as is many other functions) are grayed out as well. Is this because the pic is in TIFF format? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

More info would be nice.

Version of PS?

Colour mode and bit depth of the image

etc…

Sorry. Really knew at PS, so I didn’t realize what details would be helpful.

I’m using CS2.

The imgage is an image capture from camcorder footage. It was saved as a TIFF file. The colour is RGB. I used 300 DPI.

THanks!

There’s no apparent reason for it not to work.

Try resetting the preferences (see the FAQ for how)

Nothing about that sounds like it would disable Curves. Do you get the Curves dialog? What happens when/if you do and what happens if you hit Okay?

Apply Image is something else entirely. What are you doing when trying to use that? Is an image open?

I’m trying to lighten the the footage. The image is a little dark. A few people suggested image>adjust image and a few others suggested using curves (which I am familiar with using in PP2.0). I no clue why it isn’t working. I have the picture selected (one of a few layers in the project). Do I need to so something specific to target the pic?

Check Image>Mode. Is it by any chance in Indexed Color or Multichannel mode? If so, set it to RGB.

If that doesn’t get it going, open another TIFF image and check whether Curves will work. If so, track down the culprit by looking for differences between the two files.
