Hello and thanks for the help.

I’m posting here because I’m unable to find an Epson Scanner forum, Epson technical support has not responded to my email, and several hours of Google didn’t help.

How do I add a new scanner color profile into Epson Scan so that I can select it from the Option List of color profiles?
I’m using Epson Scan 2.34A on Windows XP Pro SP2.

I’ve created a color profile using VueScan, and using a target from Wolf Faust. I checked out the color profile file using VueScan. It works.

I’ve copied the color profile file into:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\COLOR\EpsonPerfection4870( 7-19-2007).icm I’ve installed it (right click on file name -> Install Profile). I’ve associated it with the scanner (right click on file name -> Associate…|Associate Device|Add…|EPSON Perfection 4870)

But the new color profile still does NOT appear as an option in the "Epson Scan" scanning software (Epson Scan|Configuration…|Color|ICM|Source(Scanner):)

How do I make this new color profile appear in the Option List of color profiles?

The really frustrating part of this problem is that about 2 years ago, I successfully installed a similar color profile into Epson Scan. This 2-year old profile still appears in the Option List — taunting me. I created it using the same software. But I’ve forgotten how I installed it into Epson Scan!! <beating head against the wall>

I know that I can use VueScan in place of Epson Scan for many cases. But there are sometimes when Epson Scan is preferable (for example when scanning scratched prints, not film but prints, Vuescan lacks an equivalent to Epson Scan’s Digital ICE repair feature.)

So how do I install a scanner color profile so that it appears in the Option List of Epson Scan?

Thanks for helping a fool who can’t remember how he did it …

Add new created profile from "control- panel- scanner-color. Than it should appear on the list.
If this not helping, than rename extension to "icc" or "icm" This was working for me.
Good luck.

Add new created profile from "control- panel- scanner-color.

Thanks for giving it a shot.

I tried your suggestion (Control Panel|Scanners and Cameras|Right click on Epson Perfection 4870->Properties|Color Management|Add|EpsonPerfection4870(7-19-2007).icm|Apply|OK).
It didn’t work. The new profile still doesn’t appear in the Option List of Epson Scan.

I’ve tried reinstalling Epson Scan.
I’ve tried using the control panel (see above).
I’ve tried manually installing (see first message).
They all failed.

The only success, so far, at adding the new profile is that I can over-write one of the existing profile files in the Option List with my new file. That works. But it’s a kludge.

How do I add a new profile so that it shows up in the Option List of Epson Scan? <My forehead is getting flat from beating it against the wall>
