Has anyone used any of the BuzzPro plug-ins with Photoshop 7? Are they worth the asking price? I’m thinking of getting either Pro 2.0 or Pro 1.0? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Jeff, that depends on what you want to do.
IMHO the effect using ‘simplify one’ is fantastic.
Others I didn’t find that useful.
But I understand you can download and try for a number of shots, by all means do that.

Jeff…

BuzzPro is pretty cool, but you owe it to yourself to go have a go at the demo of XaosTools "PaintAlchemy" <http://www.xaostools.com/products/pamain.html>. Read up on it, check out some of the images in their gallery, then Download a demo, which also has Terrazzo and TypeCaster (what they say about the Mac version is for online purchase only)

Phosphor,

I tried the Paint Alchemy demo about three years ago. It was impressive at filling in a photographic image with randomized paint strokes, but you couldn’t get any kind of lighting effect or impasto effect. I found that Corel Painter could give me more what I wanted in that regard.

Paint Alchemy could have added impasto paint, juicy oils, bleeding watercolors, and other effects if they had continued development of the product. Instead it seems to have been abandoned and orphaned with no ongoing support. Xaos Tools’ Segmation plugin for Photoshop seems to have suffered a similar fate. Its programmers must have moved on to better things elsewhere. Apparently Paint Alchemy’s programmers did likewise.

Painter/PaintAlchemy = Apples/Oranges.

I need to get the Painter 8 upgrade while it’s still cheap.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to
do art effects on images, then you would probably
want to shop around a little and see what is out
there.

But if you are leaning toward buZZ, then try out
the buZZPro demo. If it turns out that you only
need some of the features, then check out the
cheaper versions.
