Is there a plugin available to open a UFO file?

I used to use photoimpact until I discovered the joy of Photoshop. Many of my old files are formatted as UFO files, however, and I would like to be able to open them in CS2. Is this possible? or do I have to manually change each one of my files…
Thanks

I don’t think that this is possible. These proprietary formats are usually not or only poorly documented and therefore probably nobody ever bothered to even consider writing an import plugin. So you’ll have to convert them one at a time…

What are UFO files? are they similar to X files?

Sorry, couldn’t help myself……..

But, really, what are UFO files? I’ve never heard of them.

Judging from Dave’s link, have you tried changing the extension to JPG? Otherwise, the program in that link is only US$35 and I’d say that was a bargain. Good link Dave.

UFO files are used by the (circa 1998) Cavedog game called Total Annihilation, and others. I create BMPs every few days in Photoshop or Fireworks and convert them to UFO for use in TotalA. (Fireworks and its slice tool are very good for my needs.)

You might look into Annihilator 1.5 by kinboat. It’s a microscopic little VB program used to create game maps for TotalA, but it should have no problem converting your UFOs into BMPs. It’s available here:
