I download .7z file and .exe file. I run .exe file to extract all files in .7z files to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Adobe\Photoshop. I click on Ps icon (Setup.exe) and it’s doesn’t do anything. I already install Photoshop CS3 Extended (try out). Something about my System :
– General
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8200 @ 2.66GHz
Mainboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. P35-S3G
Windows : Windows XP Professional (5.1.2600) Service Pack 3 – Graphics
Monitor: SyncMaster 2032BW, SyncMaster Magic CX2032GW
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

How much disk space do you have? It’s possible, the installer cannot create its temporary files. Also try to move the extracted package to a different folder/ drive. System directories such as the Desktop employ special methods that may interfere with system-critical stuff such as installs.

Just curious…where’d you get the .7z file? And what is it supposed to be? Got a link to it so we can check it out?

I’ve never known Adobe to use the .7z compression format, and that seems cause for alert to me.

If you buy downloaded versions there’s an exe and 7z file. I don’t know why it’s designed like that but that’s just the way it is.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with the .7z compression format, but just that this is the first time I’ve ever heard of a major corporation using it.

Maybe I’m just out of the loop.

I hate when that happens.

I am having this exact same problem.

I have plenty of HD space (and meet all the other min requirements. I have installing it to/from different drives with no luck. And it happens with any of the cs4 trials – not just photoshop.

Anyone have a clue here?

This problem occurs because of an incomplete uninstallation – of (nearly) any of the Adobe CS4 trial products – prior to a proper serialized product installation.

After uninstalling, I simply downloaded and launched the CS4 Clean Script tool to remove some registry files that apperantly caused the conflict:

That should fix it.

Just to be safe, I then installed Photoshop in the selective (or ‘simplified’) mode on my Windows PC, disabling non-essential programs.

It’s running like a clock.
