Trying to record an action to create a centering set of guides (50% horiz. – 50% vert.) instead of having to create two new guides each time. But while you can enter 50% into the dialog box of the New Guide window the action records it as 50% of the image size you’re creating the guide on, which may not be 50% of the next image you create. How can you force the ‘Make’ command in the action to use a percentage and not a pixel setting?

Highlight whatever unit is in there now and type in %. You can use any unit that Photoshop handles, cm, in, px,picas, %, etc. This is true in most fields.
Just tried it with Pshop 6.1. When you record the action you can enter a percentage but when you RUN the action it defaults to the pixel dimension of the image you had open when you recorded it. I can’t find a way to do what he asked which was to force the Make command IN the action to use a percentage.
For example, I created an 800×800 image, recorded creating two guides one at 50% vertical and the other at 50% horizontal, stopped recording and then created a 1200×1200 image and ran the action, it placed the guides off to the side as if it were an 800×800 image and double clicking on the Make line in the action confirms it changed back to pixels.
I’d be interested in seeing if anyone can figure this out as it sounds like a handy thing to have around.
