Hanging when I move from two monitors to one

Hi

I use PS7 on a laptop and mostly, on the desk with a plug in CRT monitor so that’s a kind of two monitor set-up (NVIDIA Geforce4 420 Go Graphics Card)

When I come away from my desk and nip into PS away from the two monitors (even when I reset Display to not extend desktop) it hangs within a couple of keystrokes and refuses to shut down – everything looks greyed out.

Any advice?
