I need to change the lines of a jpeg line drawing from black to red, so that I can use it as a watermark in stationary.

I am certain that it the procedure is simple, but I am having trouble locating how to accomplish this.

I am using Photoshop 5.

Diaplay your channels palette. Under the window button on top check channels.

You have a black-and-white drawing and want to make it red-and-white? Magic-wand-based techniques tend to leave a black or gray border around the changed lines. Instead:

Make a new layer above the drawing
Fill with red
Change blend mode to "lighten"
— or —
In Channels palette click on Red layer
Select All, fill with white
Deselect
