True Marquee Selection

OK, I’ve got one that I’m sure has never been asked before! 🙂 I have a some pixels that I want to select in an image as a rectangular selection. I need to be able to move this selection on the grid, and not have it loose it’s "position." The problem is, when I start to drag, the rectangle shrinks down to the actual pixels, and I end up with an outline marquee, which of course becomes misaligned to the grid when I try to move it. The only solution I’ve found so far is to fill all the transparent area with white, move my selection, and then clear the white. But this is a obviously not fun. Any help?

Instead of moving the selection directly, use Transform — it doesn’t matter which type (Scale, Rotate, &c.), because all of them let you move the selection when dragging from a point inside the marquee-handles.
