I am having a difficult time printing to my Epson Stylus Photo 820 in Photoshop 7. When I get ready to print Photoshop tells me that since I am printing to a non-postscript printer some color and other details may not print properly. Well that is exactly what happens. The color is all messed up. Is there anyway to fix this? Are there some preferences in Photoshop I can change? Is there a way to fool the program into thinking I have a postscript printer? I really don’t want to buy a new printer. I should also let you know that I am running Photoshop 7 on a Mac in OS X.

Just looking for some help in solving this frustrating problem. Thank you in advance.

In Windows you can right-click the photo file and choose ‘print’

If Macs don’t do that, just print the photos from some other software. I still print from a 1995 version of LView Pro.

See http://cws.internet.com/

Click on "graphics" under "Multimedia and Graphics" for some different programs you can download.

Are you printing a CMYK image? If so, ignore the message. Photoshop will convert the CMYK colors to RGB, using your current color settings, but this conversion does not normally result in any appreciable change to your colors.

There are any number of problems that can happen to mess up your color. I suggest you change your printer settings to PhotoEnhance, and specify "Printer Color Management" when you print. After you get that working, should you want to use profiles with your printer, check out Ian Lyons’s web page for how to set up color:
