Layers – Basic info required

Help me please, I’ve been using PSE 2.0 for a couple of months now, and realize that layers is a fundemental concept to maxamizing the usefulness of PSE 2. But the single brain cell just doesn’t get it.

Can any one recommend a good web site or book that explains and demonstraites layers for the real dummies.

Mike, You also asked for a book referral. I have made good use of the excellent book by Mikkel Aaland, "Photoshop Elements Solutions."
