When using the rectangular marquee, I’m accustomed to it deselecting automatically if I start a new selection. Now, I have to Ctrl-D or right click and deselect the marquee. How do I turn this behavior off, so it resumes deselecting automatically?

Thanks, -Gary.

Check the options bar at the top of the screen. You want the first icon chosen. Sounds like you have it in "add" mode.

With any selection tool, click (and release) anywhere on the canvas. This will clear existing selections.
