Weird Effects Question

I have many laters with several different effects active on each one from the blending options panel. At one point I went to change the direction of a drop shadow and ALL of the drop shadows in my file changed with it. What is going on? thanks

You need to uncheck the "Use Global Light" box in the Layer Styles dialog.
