Photoshop Elements2 program error

After installing PE2 I get the following when I try to start the program ‘Could not initialize P E because of a program error’ I have followed the help online, defraged HDD installed in safe mode but still nothing.Using W2k on a Toshiba SatellitePro 6000, this problem also occurs on another identical pc using another copy of PE2.
Can anyone help?

Do you use antivirus software on your computers? (You should!!!) If so, make sure it’s disabled before trying to install any software. This is particularly true if you’re using Norton, since Adobe and Norton products don’t always play nicely together. Having Norton activated while trying to install Elements is usually a recipe for disaster.

If this doesn’t apply, please repost and someone else will come up with another suggestion. Good luck!

Beth, thanks. I use McAfee Virus Scan TC, It was disablled during install, and I’m now thinking this may be lack of memory although I have altered paging files to no result.
