Howdy

I am using Scott Kelby’s book"The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers" to help me retouch some digital photos. When attempting to enhance eyebrows, Kelby says to select the eyebrows with the Lasso tool (that works ok) the to press Command J to put the eyebrows on a separate layer. That key combination does not work on my computer. When I press them nothing happens. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

This may be too obvious, but… are you looking at the layer palette? On your image you would see no change, of course.

Also, you have to hold down the Command key and then hit J. (Not "press" them simultaneously.)

Thank you for your replies. John, can you explain what you mean when you say I should trash my preferences?

Thanks
