Save with "Maximize Compatibility" on, obviously. But you’ll have to accept that there may be certain elements created in CS2 that may not work in PS7
Thanks for your quick reply. Do you know if this also cuonts for CS1?
If a new version brings features which didn’t exist in older versions you could run into compatibility issues. Obviously, the further back you go the greater the potential for "layer related" problems.
I don’t pretend to know the specific issues. Maybe others will come along with more detailed and specific replies.
"Maximize Compatibility" saves a flattened version of the file which should open in all older versions.
Chris.
Thanks for the info, Chris. Do I understand correctly that "Maximize Compatibility" removes the layer structure? Because, if that is the case, I cannot use it.
No, the layer structure remains intact, but a flattened version is also saved with the file to enable it to be opened in programs which don’t support layers. For instance, "maximize compatibility" will allow Bridge to build its thumbnails and previews quicker.
Thanks Chris. You have been a good help. The upgrade to CS 2 has become quit a bit closer.

Rob
