I am getting the message "this file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop." Which doesn’t make sense because I used this version of Photoshop to create this file.

I am on CS3
Windows XP Pro
The file is a layered Tiff and is 190.3M
AVG is my security, not Norton Anti Virus

When I look at the preferences it states that it was created in CS3. How can I open this file? and what caused this to happen?

Keith,

Is it just this file? or others too?

Is it indeed a tiff? Perhaps it’s a Psd renamed to Tiff, instead of converted.

Can you open it in another program like Irfanview?

It is just this file. I am working on a couple of similar spreads but no other has been effected. It was originally saved as a tiff. I just opened it in Painter but it of course flattened it…

I also reset the preferences but no change
