For the last couple of weeks, when I want to save a file in Photoshop CS3 as a .psd file, it doesn’t give me that option anymore. The default file format is .tif. I don’t even have the .psd option.

How come I lost the option to save as a .psd file ?

Is tif the only format on the list? If so (and even if not) you should check how to reset the preferences in the FAQ.

You should always be able to save as psd format.
