ps cs3 hangs when I try to save, save menu dissapears

I can load an image, do some editing, but as soon as I try to save or save as, the save dialog box flashes on the screen for a fraction of a second, then disappears. Now you can’t do anything, program hangs up. I try to end the program from windows, says it doesn’t want to end because its waiting for a response from me. It seems like the save dialog box is getting hidden when it shouldn’t.

Any ideas??

Jeff,

Your dialog probably goes off screen. You can Esc out of the "freeze".

Reset the preferences per the FAQ on tis forum listing.

Thank you, I was able to esc out. I had deleted the preferences file first, but this made no difference.

What I found was the save dialog was same size as the workspace and hiding behind it. escape brought it to the front, and from then on it stayed in front of all other windows.
