I’d save as PSD or TIF while working on it to avoid an degradation of the image.
Bob
Agree with Bob…every time you save a Jpeg it degrades slightly, Therefore first thing you do when you get a jpeg is save as psd or tif. IMO.
Cheers, Sam.
I had Photoshop Elements 1 installed on Windows XP .I was just ‘gifted’ with boxed Elements 2 I uninstalled Elements 1.I thought the uninstallation was completed when I received message–Unable to delete folder programs–‘color correction’,’rotate & move’,image clean-up’,enhanse,etc(eighteen in all) message cont. ‘these folders will have to be removed manually’ How do I go about this? What happens if I don’t remove them ?
Ricardo,
Sam and Bob are correct.
Horace,
You should put your question to the Photoshop Elements forum. Do a search first to see if your question hasn’t already been answered. If it has not, start a new topic over there.
But since we’re here, to answer your question:
First, make sure Elements 2 is working okay. If it was an upgrade, you probably needed to have the older version on your system. Once you have the new version working okay, you can safely delete the old 1.1 folder(s).
You should open My Computer and then navigate to the old Elements folder. Most likely it will be under Program Files\Adobe\Elements. BEFORE you delete any folders, make sure there is nothing in there you want to save. When you get the "unable to delete" message, it usually means you have added something into one of the folders that was not put there by the program when it was installed. It is a nice fail-safe to protect you from inadvertently deleting something you might want to keep. After you check that, make sure you have the 1.1 folder selected and then delete the folders.
As long as Elements 2 was installed in a different directory from 1.1, you should be okay.
Jake
I have never seen a degradation when saving as jpg as long as I "save as" using the highest setting.
