Greetings,

When I am saving a PhotoShop EPS to be placed in Illustrator, should I check the boxes in the EPS options window for:

Include Halftone Screen
Include Transfer Function
PostScript Color Management

I am creating a brochure for printing (4 color process)

Thanks for any help.

Include Halftone Screen – only if you have set a specific screen for that image that will be different to the rest of the publication Include Transfer Function – No. Transfer functions are to compensate for ImageSetter mis-alignments
PostScript Color Management – No – just save with embedded ICC

Additionally, unless the image includes a clipping path or includes spot-colour references I would recommend TIFF rather than EPS.

In later version of Illustrator (9 onwards) I would recommend using .PSD as that will also carry transparency information to Illustrator)

The general rule of thumb for these three options is, if you don’t understand what they do, and know for certain that you do need them, don’t check them – they’ll cause more harm than good when used unintentionally.
