What is the easiest way to ensure that the edges of layers are as smooth as possible when merging in order to avoid the high contrast obvious join lines? I suppose I’m asking what is the best way to blend layer edges together?
Thanks
Iain

What I would do is place a mask on the layer, which reveals the whole thing, and blur the edges.

To do this:
Select the layer
CTRL-click on the layer in the palette
Click the Add Mask button at the bottom of the palette
Click on the mask icon for th elayer in the palette
Apply some Gaussian blur

One other way is to use a soft tipped brush and just draw around the layer. Another way is to feather the selection before you make it.
