Can someone tell me the Photoshop CS settings for printing pictures saved from a Canon 20D with an Epson 2200 over a LAN. The 2200 is on another computer connected to the LAN. Here are my settings Under Edit Color Settings–>NA General Purpose Defaults–> Advanced mode (not checked)–>Working Space–>RGB–>Adobe RGB(1998), CMYK–>US web coated (SWOP) v2, Gray–>Dot Gain 20%, Spot –>Dot Gain 20%, Under color management RGB–>convert to working RGB, CMYK–>convert to working CMYK, Gray–>convert to gray, nothing else is checked. Under print preview, color management, document–>Adobe RGB (1998), Print Space–>Stylus photo 2200, Saturation, Use Black Point Compensation The pictures come out with a very magenta cast. Under printer properties, glossy photo paper, 1440 dpi,Tone–>vivid, Sharpness–> in the middle. What am I doing wrong? thanks

You are double profiling. To prevent this you can either choose "printer color management" in the Photoshop print preview Print space, or you can choose which profile you want in the print preview Print Space but you have to select "no color adjustment" in the Epson driver under Custom, Advanced.

If you print from photoshop: it looks like double color management. Either turn off the color management of the driver or of photoshop.

Another thing: the Saturation rendering intent is normally not very suited for printing photos.

Go to the Epson site and see if they still offer the Print Academy. It is $30 online course with excellent demonstrations of how to get started with color management, Photoshop and Epson printers. It requires a high speed connection. You can rewatch as many times as you like.

That is a real eye opener. They take a while to load on a fast connection but are very worth while. They ought to have .mov tutorials like that in with the standard Adobe help files.

It is also worth while going to the tips page
http://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html
and looking at all the stuff there.

Russell opened my eyes for lots of things in PS, but maybe that’s because I’m too lazy to start reading my books on PS.

Hum, I thought that was a very dry attempt at humor. A bit strange humor, but that the way I read it.

Yes, you’re right about that, but he does it in a (imho) mostly funny way. I like laughing while learning. There’s also this guy (i can’t find his page right now) who sounds like he took all his mum’s valium pills before making his tutorials. It might be interesting what he’s telling me, but I’m sleeping halfway the tut.

Anybody knows who I mean?
