I presently have Version 6.0 of Photoshop with Image Ready version 3.0. I am considering switching to Photoshop Elements 2.0 as I feel it’s more suitable to my level of digital imaging. Will my previous photos from version 6.0 be compatible with Photoshop Elements? Thank you.

I’m not sure how PE handles CMYK graphics. Will it open them and simply convert them to RGB on the fly?

yes… as long as you don’t use any features in your images that are not available in elements. (like cmyk).

Yes. Gives you a dialogue to convert to RGB. Your only choice is "yes", if you want to open the file.
