Epson Stylus RX500 prints duotone on black only setting

I there a more appropriate sourse for hepl with this?

It’s one of those multi-function devices. Prints surprisingly good colour pix, but when set to black only, prints black and green from greyscale files, when set to ‘Best’ quality.
Strangely, does print with black only when set to ‘Text’, but with serious banding.

Any suggestions, please?
