I know this topic has come up again and again…and I thought I understood. But it ain’t working right for this newbie.

I just bought an Epson 2200 for the purpose of printing photos scanned on a Nikon LS8000. I calibrated monitor and printer with a Gretag Eye-One, set the Windows monitor and printer defaults to the new profiles, removed gamma loader shortcut from the startup folder, assign Adobe 1998 to my images, soft proof with Epson’s paper profile, print with preview, set to ICM and "No Color Management" in the print driver (also tried it by managing using the calibrated printer profile), and…..the print was way off.

Potential issues:
-Adobe Gamma does not recognize the new monitor profile as valid (although it obviously kicks in and is running)
-I am using a Sony laptop (I know, I need a CRT or better LCD) -I’m new at this and may have screwed something up.

Last night and decided to experiment and set the default monitor profile to Adobe 1998, and got better results than with the calibrated profile, but still a little off.

Any input? Thank you for your patience.
