I’ve read through the FAQ on this problem and every forum post I could find about this and tried all the techniques for solving this issue and none of these solutions have helped. To be clear, this is the issue where Photoshop still works (I can save, add filters, open new images, etc) but when I select a tool from the tool bar, either the cursor remains as the standard Windows arrow or the window resize cursor.
I have tried the following solutions:
Updating video drivers/AGP driver (nVidia 5900XT and SIS AGP driver) Completely underclocking my video card
Turning off hardware acceleration in Windows
Renaming mmxcore.8bx to mmxcore.8bx.save (i.e. disabling it) Multiple reinstallations (currently, I’m running the trial version)
I have the following programs running in the background: Norton AV (auto-protect disabled)
WindowBlinds 4.3
Video card settings
Currently, I’m out of ideas on how to fix this problem. It seems to happen relatively quickly after I open PS (say, less than an hour into editing). Any ideas?
System specs:
P4 on Asus P4S533
512mb DDR400 Corsair Memory (single stick)
nVidia 5900XT 128MB (Gainward mfg)
Creative SB Live
Thanks!
