I’m really stuck, and I need help.
I have taken digital pics of transparent objects such as acrylic brochure holders, signs etc. I need to cut around the object and place it into a background for our catalogue.

When I do this, the object looks fake, does not look right applied to the background. I have tried the fill and opacity levels.

Any tips on what tool would be best used for pics that are transparent

Thanks!

Check out something like this:

….Or reshoot the photos with a background that is closer to your intended output.

Depending on the background, it might just be faster re-shoot them correctly. That said, without really seeing what they look like, it’s kind of tough to tell.

Overlay a layer filled with color that’s the same as the BG, then play with the opacity, maybe?

You could probably do it using the isolated object and a couple of layers. Further isolate what’s in front of the rear see thru stuff. on the rear-clear, past onto it the image or backhround you want. Use a plastic filter on it and then copy the layer ontop of the front part of the object. Then adjust the opacity down so it looks like you’re seeing it thru the font part. Copy the front part on top of all this and adjust down the opacity so whats behind it shows thru. You may have to tweek around the layer blend opts to get the right depth look.

Probably will work….but i agree…it will be better and perhaps easier to re-shoot. I know sometimes you can’t though.

good luck
