Troubleshooting issues on why when I adjust photos on my PC, burn them to disk, and view them on my friends Mac they look COMPLETELY different (i.e. really washed out & crappy).

Is there a way to avoid this? I just had a photo published and was MORTIFIED when I saw it there in print. That was not how it looked on my computer… why spend all the time and effort adjusting the photo if it’s going to look totally different when it must leave your hands on digital medium and be printed elsewhere?

This is probably an elementary problem for alot of you- but I consider myself fairly well-schooled in Photoshop, yet have never been able to understand why this keeps happening. PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!

Have you created a profile for your monitor?
Have you created a profile for your printer?
If you send your images out to be printed, do you use their profile? If you haven’t done this, you are likely to be distressed by the appearance of your images elsewhere.
Color management is not an especially easy task to understand or implement. Jim
