I am editing a jpeg file. I have noticed that when I try to save the file it does not offer the jpeg format. Neither "save" nor "save as" offers a jpeg format.

How do I export a JPEG file format?

Has the edited version got layers or additional channels?

You don’t mention your Photoshop version.

Also, you want to keep a master copy of your file saved in a non-lossy format like PSD or TIFF

What John says, plus look to see if the Image > Mode is RGB and 8 bit.

Well, 8 bit anyway. CMYK jpegs are just fine.

Myspace won’t let you upload a CMYK jpeg. and many picture viewers will choke on them.

Well, since most browsers don’t display them, that seems almost reasonable. But that doesn’t have anything to do with the OP’s problem, I don’t think.

you have to convert the images to RGB if you can…at least I’m pretty sure.

If you have added layers, you will need to flatten the image to Save in JPEG, unless you use Save for Web.

Depending on what version. Later versions will flatten it for you. Might add Copy to the file name.
