Running PS7. Do picture restoration. Build all images to 8+10 @ 150 resolution. Can I cut part of an image and put it in another, in the same location? This would help when there is several of the same image, but I only want to use part of each.

Make your selection. Create an alpha channel out of it by clicking on the Save Selection button at the bottom of the Channels pallet. Copy your selection into clipboard. Drag that alpha channel from the channels pallet onto the new image. Then Edit|Paste Into.

I made a selection, but the save selection as channel, was grayed out. Do I have to create a new channel and if so, how do I do that?

If your Save Selection was grayed out, it may be because of your image Mode – are you in Index Mode? If so, convert ito RGB.

HEY, I did it. Don’t know why I couldn’t do it before. However the moved image is not located too good, would still have to move it by trial and error. Any suggestions?

If both images are the same size, dropping the alpha channel on the new image should place it exactly where the other one was. Are the two images different?

The 1 image is a copy of the other, same size. I even tried having them both displayed, zoom to the same size. My last try was even further off.

Hmmm… Here’s what I did. I took an image and duplicated it.

I made an elliptical marquee randomly in image 1. I then clicked on the Save Selection button in the Channels Pallet. then I Edit|Copy, to put my selection in the clipboard.

When I go to the channels pallet, there is a channel, Alpha 1. I click on that and drag it to Image 2. It’s a perfect alignment. Then I click on the Load Channel As Selection button at the bottom of the Channels Pallet in image 2, then Edit|Paste Into. Works perfectly.

But there’s yet another way to do this, if you’re having trouble.

Copy your selection to clipboard, paste, then duplicate the image.

Peace,
Tony

Horrors of all Horrors; I actually did it, well once anyway. Thank you. You never let me down. So make alot of cuts in a picture, color each layer, then make a copy before mergeing for final picture. If I need a piece of the copy to help with the final picture, this procedure will save alot of work trying to align the piece. SO Thank You
