Where is ‘description’ to display on web page?

I’m trying to build a little web page of some photos and I want to enter some description information for each photo. I can select ‘descripion’ when building the web page but I don’t know where to enter the descriptive information for the photo. I tried the ‘description’ field in the EXIF info but that didn’t seem to work. Could somebody point me in the right direction?
