Is there anyway to turn the horizontal and vertical guides on and off versus clearing them or locking them?

I have had instances lately where I don’t want to see them while I try out another idea but I don’t want to lose the layout by "clearing" them.
It seems there is not but I have been surprised before with some "trick". Thanks.

Control-semicolon is what you want to just hide guides. Control-H hides many other things besides just guides, which may not be wanted. Control-colon for grids.

Good point. Since I don’t differentiate I’m just used to Ctrl+H to hide everything.
