This has aggravated me to no end. Periodically Photoshop CS2 seems to completely reset itself as if I had just installed it for the first time. Mind you, I have everything customized just the way I like it, so every time this happens, even though I’ve saved my Workspace, it still comes up with annoying dialog boxes (Delete this layer?) so I have to reorganize again.

Has this happened to anyone else? I’m running Windows XP, 2 GB of RAM and lots of hard drive space left over.

Obviously your preferences are getting reset. Are you shutting down PS properly and completely before turning off the computer? That can cause that.

When you have everything the way you want it in PS, save the preference files* so you can copy them back if you lose them again.

* everything in:

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Adobe Photoshop CS3 Settings

Edit: Sorry, CS2 not CS3
