Photoshop eps converts to Illustrator?

I am a Graphic Designer, Mac user (10 years) and now working on a PC at a new job. When I save a Photoshop file as a "Photoshop eps" file, it converts it to an illustrator file! Anyone know why this happens? I can’t find any preference settings, and my IT guy doesn’t understand!

It’s not being converted to an Illustrator file. But Windows can only associate a file extension with one application. Double clicking on an EPS will launch Illustrator unless you tell it to launch Photoshop.

IMO, that’s not a particularly good idea so just leave it alone and open your Photoshop EPS file from Photoshop, not by double clicking them.
