photoshop 7 update

sorry if this has been asked before

i reformatted the hard drive and had to reinstall PS 7
when i tried to update to 7.1
I got the error message that adobe 7.1 update program could not find ps 7.0.

i tried reinstalling PS 7 and restarting the computer to no avail…it is still saying cannot find 7.0

any advice?

This happens when you use a counterfeit serial number and pirate software. It has been know to happen with legitimate programs but not often. JT
