Hi,
if you registered your product at Adobe, you might contact them to get your original serial. Otherwise try google and search for an other one.
I had to reformat and reload xp. in doing so, I lost everything. I am a legitimate owner of photoshop 7 and have a legitimate s/n. Problem is, I’ve divorced since I first installed PS7 and it’s a messy divorce. Bottom line is, she has the disk, I have a back-up but it asks for a s/n. Who do I contact at Adobe to get a copy of the s/n. I’m registered.
I have an older version of Photoshop (4.0), which is OK because I have an older MAC (G3), etc. About a year ago I cleared my hard drive, and since I wasn’t using Photoshop at the time, I didn’t reinstall it. Now I want to use it, and find I can’t access it without the serial #, which I can’t find anywhere. It’s not on the CD box. Now what?
Aside from RamΓ³n’s suggestion, check the title page or back cover of your user manual (you may have put a serial number label there), the registration card, or the sleeve for the CD-ROM.
For the future — make sure that your software is registered. Keep a register and printout of all your software and their serial numbers for reference. Store this in a safe place.
At my office, all Adobe applications are registered online. If a copy of that list is needed, I can just log on, any time.
You are an optimist regarding Customer Service and serial numbers as far back as PS v4. Adobe has lost or otherwise mixed up my ownership info multiple times since PS v4. Adobe’s problems in that regard have been related back to me as being global in nature, not just me; database changes and the like. However, I do own products (e.g. Framemaker) that were originally registered before Adobe owned the apps, and that no doubt added confusion.
I can go online and see Adobe apps I’ve registered back as far as 1991. That takes me to PS5 which surprised me. Those were the days, eh? Apps were updated every couple of years instead every other month. B)
I just checked my account and my oldest registration goes back to "Super ATM". But I do notice the registration dates appear to have been updated very recently, so it’s likely that multiple databases may have been created over time.
I’ve purchased and used Adobe applications back to 1991 (for both corporate and personally-owned software). In the early years, I filled out the registation card with the serial number label on it and mailed or faxed it to Adobe Systems. Occasionally, I even phoned in my registrations. Later, when online registry came to be, I switched to that method — faster and more reliable.
What I found out is that mailed-in cards, faxed-in cards, telephone registrations and online registrations fed into at least two different Adobe databases. With some doing, I was able to get the folks at Adobe to locate and properly merge the registrations. Even then, some registrations were missing and I had to ferret through some of the older software and manually register them online. It was a royal pain. But the end result was a single roster of these product registrations for each registered user I was responsible for.
Outside, looking in, are many Adobe font diskettes (floppies), which were sold and delivered with registerable serial numbers. Those registrations are a lost cause as far as databasing them by Adobe — from what I understand, Adobe does not keep these font diskette records.
What my ongoing project is for the fonts is to properly preserve them. Floppies sure ain’t forever, and I still have a vintage Mac (8500/120) which has both sufficient hard drive space and a floppy drive to copy over each of those floppies to the hard drive, send them to another Mac (via the LAN) for burning to multiple CD-ROMs to hopefully preserve them for a few more years.
I brought adobe paint shop serial number off a trader in a computer fair, he told me that all I needed to do was down load the trial version and then put the serial number in it should work,I know for a fact that he is a authurised trader because he had different documentation for all the products.
he told me that all I needed to do was down load the trial version and then put the serial number in it should work,
you got ripped off. there’s no way to enter a serial # in a trial version and make it full. it runs for 30 days then expires. period.
I know for a fact that he is a authurised trader because he had different documentation for all the products.
I know for a fact from your description that he’s a pirate and a con artist. sorry. hope you didn’t pay too much OR with a credit card. (if you did, you better contact your card company about a fraudulant charge and cancel the card and have it reissued as a pirate now has your cc #).
you can contact to report him, if you feel like it. it won’t get your $$$ back, but maybe they can get him before he rips off others.
Check with Adobe Customer service to verify your serial number, and, in the process, verify the trustworthiness of the ‘trader’. Also, the trial version doesn’t offer a way to just enter a serial number to make it work… You have to have the full version… And remember, if you’re on a Windows platform, you’ll have to activate the program.
for that you get to be legal and get patches and fixes. and you get to upgrade for 160~ for each new version. there’s no better way to get your career as an artist/designer going than getting started early! π
I have lost the cd to my Photo shop CS but have my serial number, I was wondering if I could just put it in through the tryout version like you are able to through the tryout for Photo shop CS2
but you should be able to upgrade to cs2. you might need to contact adobe with help instlaling though. don’t know if the cs2 installer asks for the disk or the serial.
Contact Adobe. If your serial number is authentic, and not one of the many crack numbers going around, they will know, and should be able to send you new media for a small fee.
When I got my CS2 (Canon/PE2 upgrade) they sent me the upgrade instead of the full version (OOPS!, but they’re fixing that). Anyway, the upgrade asks for your CS2 serial number and then the next screen asks for a) where your previous version is installed on your HD, or b) insert the previous version disk. I don’t think just the serial number of a previous version will work because it never asks for it.
Colin, I will soon. I bought it and I’m waiting to get it. I have CS1 as well… and by the way, I’m sure Adobe can accomodate you as soon as you send them the loot π Marcel

does anyone have a serial number for photoshop cs2 ver 9?
I bet you can get a serial number from Adobe, they have lots of them.
A serial number will only allow you to install the program, but that will not activate it. It will work for a month and will then need to be activated.
Here we go again, now we will get all the usual comments ranging from the morally banal, through the outrageously righteous, all the way to the downright obscene! but no doubt as usual including the merely illiterate! After all this time you still don’t recognise a flame!!

Hmmm, all of these seem to invlve the *removal* of something, and not copying. Interesting.

So you’re defending software piracy?
Possibly not, but what he/she/it -=si=- demonstrating is that they believe wiki to be facutal, when any tribe of monkeys can type in any definition or explanation.

My adobe applications are starting to crash so I need to re-install. The problem is that according to my System Info my serial number is 1045 1412 2052 3466 (20 digits) and reinstalling says I need 24 digits. Where the serial numbers changed and if so how can I get a new serial number.
