Seems impossible. Most common thing in After Effects. Why isn’t this implemented in Photoshop, or am I blind?

Please explain, step-by-step, what you have tried.

Take us from opening the file through what you’ve done to try to feather out the vector mask.

Why not use a Layer Mask instead?
