Called tech support because when we try saving to a 1.75TB volume it gave us an error saying that the disk is full yet there were 1.3TB of free space. Tech Suport said that PS can’t save to anything over 1TB. I asked if there was a fix for this in the works and they said yes. Let’s hope it comes out soon! You would think that PS 7.0.1 would work with a TB volume.

Super but I am using 7.01 which is still on the shelves for sale. When is a fix coming out for 7.0.1?

When is a fix coming out for 7.0.1?

It did. It’s called Photoshop CS. The other workaround is to partition the TB drive in smaller chunks

No it’s not. Tech Support said they were working on a fix for 7.0.1. CS is not a fix for a 7.0.1 limitation to TB direcroies.

7.01.1 is still on the shelves for sale so why should one have to buy another copy to fix a bug in something that is still sold and supported?

If 7.0.1 is not supported anymore then why is it for sale and supported all over the website?

Tyler,

The representative you spoke with was misinformed. We will not be updating the Photoshop 7 product.

Thanks guys. Great job! A product that was released and bought in the year 2003 can’t even deal with the networks and machine configurations that are in every day workplace environents in the year 2003. You can’t just make one little fix for 7.0.1 but I am expected to purchase CS which by the looks of things on your forum is something that people should stay away from until it’s bugs are worked out. Fantastic. Love Adobe! Buy a supported product that should be able to deal with TB configurations only to find out I need to buy another to get it to work.

Tyler,

then why is it for sale <<

Because dealers still have stocks of it, of course. Adobe isn’t selling 7.01 anymore…..

Do you feel better now?

No I don’t feel any better.

Then why is it still supported? 7.0.1 has a limitation that could be fixed and imho should work so fix it, then I would feel better about a product that I purchased and expected to work in environments found in the year 2003.

When exactly did you buy it? If it was very recently you’re entitled to a free upgrade. But you need to realize that terrabyte harddrives, contrary to what you believe are not all that common, and that software is not perfect.

There aren’t too many software companies that I can think of that update products that have new versions released.

I bought it three weeks ago, I will have to look into that.

We are alarge volume photo lab and terabyte is nothing new to us or our competition.

As far as software updates for products with new released version…Microsoft. Updates for win2K all the time but you can’t buy it off the shelf (you can order machines with it). MS relizes that Win2K is still widely used and needs to be supported. They support it. Adobe says 7.0.1 is supported so support it.

Anyway, I am sorry for the ranting and thanks for the upgrade tip.

TB filesystems are a newer phenomenon. Photoshop 7 is two years old, and the APIs to deal with TB file systems didn’t exist in some of the operating systems that it had to ship on.

And no, you can’t "just" make one little fix to an app – it’s still a very expensive thing to do (unless you don’t really care about letting your customers regress the bugs such a change is likely to introduce).

So, sorry about that, but fixing Photoshop 7 just isn’t viable.

Call Adobe, you’re entitled to a free upgrade (not including shipping).
