I sometimes need to make a selection of an area in a picture. Many times I dont manage to mark exactly what I want.

Is there a method for refining the the selection? I dont want to restart the selection work.

Read up on, and learn to use, the Quick Mask and Layer Masks. They allow you to do exactly what you want because you "paint" your selection and "unpaint" at will.

Quick Mask is probably the easiest to learn. There are many on-line tutorials on this.
